About The Old Vicarage

The Old Vicarage is a Victorian building originally built in 1888 and has been a Guesthouse for approximately 20 years. Whilst we aim to meet the needs of all of our guests there are some period features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. From the access road (Church Road) our narrow drive, originally built for pedestrian and bicycle entry, rises fairly steeply to our parking area. Due to this incline we have 3 steps (15cms / 6 inches in height) to our front door. We have 7 bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor however due to limited manoeuvrability space, the width of the door and a change of floor level into the en-suite, this room is unsuitable for wheelchair users

Pre-Arrival

  • You can contact us by telephone, text, email or by calling into The Old Vicarage. Please see the Contact Information section of this document for full details

  • Guests can arrive by car, bus or train. The Berwick-upon-Tweed bus and train stations are approximately 20 minutes walk. In fact one lovely ‘older’ lady guest who was researching accessibility around GB by bus proudly told us that her walk to the station had taken her 18.5 minutes !
  • Local taxi firms operate from the rail and bus stations from 7am – midnight. We can pre-book taxis for you at anytime during your stay
  • Brochures, information and menus can be printed in large print if required, please just ask. We regret we are presently unable to prepare documents in Braille
